Foundation Notes.
Granelis Journal began as a small notebook of observations on what actually sustains an active life in practice, as distinct from theory. It has since grown into a regular publication with a consistent editorial voice and a small, committed readership.
Where the Journal Began
Granelis Journal came out of a simple frustration. Most of the available reading on men's wellness occupied one of two registers: the technically exhaustive, which demanded a level of engagement most working men do not have time for, or the motivationally thin, which offered little beyond reassurance that improvement was possible.
The founding editors — based in Brussels, working in adjacent fields — noticed that the gap between these two extremes was where most men actually lived. They wanted writing that was specific enough to be useful, and observational enough to be readable. Granelis Journal is the product of that gap.
The publication launched in January 2024 with three articles and no particular growth objective. Readership expanded by word of mouth across its first year, concentrating in Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, and Amsterdam — cities with a comparable demographic of active, professionally engaged men in their thirties and forties.
What the Journal Covers
Daily Habits & Routine
Morning sequences, evening wind-downs, productivity habits, and the small daily practices that compound into a well-structured week. Written for men with demanding schedules who need frameworks that are genuinely practical.
Active Living & Movement
Outdoor fitness, strength training approaches, body composition over time, and endurance practices. The emphasis is on sustainable engagement rather than extreme short-term regimens.
Nutrition & Eating
Protein-rich meals, meal prep strategies, balanced eating for active men, and the relationship between nutrition habits and energy across the week. Practical rather than prescriptive.
Grooming & Personal Care
Grooming essentials, personal care routines, seasonal wardrobe planning, and the considered approach to appearance that characterises the modern gentleman's guide. Without the luxury-marketing register.
Work-Life Rhythm
Stress management, work-life balance, weekend resets, and the structural patterns that allow sustained professional performance without the deterioration of personal life quality.
Weekend & Seasonal
Weekend adventures in Belgium and the surrounding region, seasonal wardrobe transitions, and the slower rhythm of the weekend as a counterweight to the working week.
The Editorial Team
Tobias has worked in wellness and lifestyle publishing for seven years, with a focus on habit research, outdoor movement, and the intersection of professional life and physical health. He oversees editorial direction at Granelis Journal.
Eleanor writes on practical nutrition, meal preparation, and the eating habits that sustain an active working life. Her background is in nutritional communications and food writing, primarily for European publications.
Jasper covers the grooming, seasonal wardrobe, and personal care sections of the journal. He brings a practical perspective informed by years of writing for style-adjacent publications across Belgium and the Netherlands.
How the Journal Works
Granelis Journal is an independent editorial publication focused on everyday wellness practices. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body. No articles are sponsored or influenced by external commercial relationships; writers are required to declare any material connection to brands, products, or organisations they write about.
The editorial process involves at least one second-editor review before publication. Factual claims are reviewed against the published research cited; where research is summarised, the limitation of such summaries is noted. Corrections, when necessary, are noted publicly in the original article.
The journal does not publish content designed to sell specific products, promote wellness brands, or advance any particular nutritional framework. Its orientation is observational and evidence-informed rather than prescriptive.
No external ownership or commercial affiliation shapes the editorial line. The journal is funded by reader engagement alone.
Claims are grounded in published research, peer-reviewed sources, or direct observation. Anecdote is labelled as such.
Writing is selected for its usefulness in everyday context — not its impressiveness in abstract. If it cannot be applied, it tends not to be published.
When errors are identified, corrections are made in the published article and noted clearly. No article is silently revised.
